Principle of operation
Unlike traditional ploughing, which is carried out with flat ploughs, and the depth of the topsoil that is shifted or turned over can reach 30-35 cm, peeling takes place without dumping and turning the soil to a depth of 8-12 cm. Hulling belongs to the class of "minimal" or "economical" tillage. There are disc and ploughshare cultivators. Disc cultivators process the soil to a depth of 4-12 cm.
Advantages
The effectiveness of this method of tillage is as follows:
- reduction of costs for fuels and lubricants, compared to ploughing;Soil harrows can be complemented by soil crumbling rollers or tine harrows. Some people also refer to rollers as cultivators. Some manufacturers equip their rollers with discs of a similar shape to the cultivators, thus creating a universal unit that combines the properties of a cultivator and a packer roller. In this case, it is not possible to increase the depth of peeling. It is usually 4-6 cm. Soil peeling can be performed as a preparatory operation for ploughing, or it can be used as an independent type of tillage before sowing with the use of precision seeders.

The advantage of the slatted tooth roller is that it crumbles clods better. Due to its low weight, it is mainly used on medium to light soils (loamy and sandy loamy soils). The roller has a diameter of 415 mm and a weight of 160 kg.
Spiral Tubular ReelThe spiral tube roller consisting of twelve tubes is designed for crushing and compacting soil. Due to its large weight, it is mainly used on heavy soils (clay, loamy soils). The roller has a diameter of 510 mm and a weight of 225 kg.
Tandem rollerTandem roller consisting of two different rollers :
- The first roller is spiral tubular with ten tubes with a diameter of 415 mm and a weight of 160 kg. This roller is used mainly on medium and light soils (loamy, sandy loamy soils). Thanks to its tandem, it provides better crumbling of clods.
